Jesus compares His return to a thief who comes unexpectedly.
Obviously, if you knew exactly when a thief was coming, you'd stay awake. You'd be ready.
But because you don’t know when a thief is coming, you stay prepared all the time.
That's Jesus' point.
In Sunday's message, some of our pastors also compared Jesus’ return to a pop quiz.
A pop quiz works because no one knows when it's coming.
It reveals who was already ready…who was prepared all along.
Jesus isn't trying to scare us.
He's simply reminding us to stay spiritually alert…to stay spiritually awake.
Since we don't know when Jesus will return, we should live every day ready to meet Him.
