The two men in Jesus’ story could not have been more different.
One was rich.The other was poor.
One lived in luxury.The other lived in desperation.
One seemed to have everything.The other seemed to have nothing.
But eventually, something happened to both of them.
They died.
Jesus doesn’t soften that reality, and neither should we.
Death comes for everyone.
Rich or poor.
Successful or struggling.
Young or old.
Religious or not.
And while none of us particularly enjoys thinking about that, Jesus reminds us that this life doesn’t last forever.
Which means we shouldn’t live like it does.
