Day 2Pick Up the Towel

Day 2

Pick Up the Towel

John makes sure we understand something before Jesus washes a single foot.

Jesus knew exactly who He was.

He knew He had come from God.

He knew He was returning to God.

He knew the Father had put everything under His power.

And because Jesus knew who He was, He didn’t have anything to prove.

So, He picked up a towel.

While everyone else was worried about who was greatest, Jesus chose the lowest position in the room.

That’s what secure people can do.

When you know who you are in Jesus, you don’t have to fight for recognition.

You don’t have to get the credit.

You don’t have to prove you’re important.

You can simply serve.

There are probably towels sitting in front of all of us today.

Something that needs to be done.

Someone who needs to be helped.

A need everybody sees but nobody wants to meet.

The question is whether we’ll pick up the towel.

-

Today’s Question: What am I refusing to do because, if I’m honest, I think it’s beneath me?

Today’s Challenge: Do one thing today that needs to be done without being asked… and without needing anyone to notice.

Today’s Prayer: “Jesus, make me secure enough in You that I don’t need recognition. Give me the humility to pick up the towel and serve.”
