Day 2You Can't Fix What's Wrong With You

Day 2

You Can't Fix What's Wrong With You

An MRI can show you exactly what's wrong with your body.

But it can't fix it.

It can reveal the problem.

But it can't repair the problem.

Paul says God's law works in a similar way.

The law can reveal our sin.

But it can’t remove our sin.

It can diagnose the disease.

But it can't provide the cure.

And that's a problem because our natural response when we realize something is wrong with us is to try harder. Do better. Clean ourselves up. Become more religious. Maybe attend church more often.

But Paul says none of those things can make us right with God.

We can't behave our way out of our sin problem.

We need someone to do for us what we could never do for ourselves.

That's why we need Jesus.

Today's Question:

Where am I still trying to make myself right with God by trying harder or doing better?

Today's Challenge:

Pay attention today to the ways you try to prove yourself to God. When you notice it happening, remind yourself: “I can't fix my sin problem. That's why I need Jesus.”

Today's Prayer:

“Jesus, forgive me for the ways I try to earn what only You can give. Help me stop trusting in my performance and start resting in what You've done for me.”
