Day 4Righteousness Is Given, Not Earned

Day 4

Righteousness Is Given, Not Earned

Paul says something that almost sounds too good to be true.

Even though we're guilty...God can declare us righteous.

Not because we finally got our act together.

Not because we became religious enough.

Not because our good deeds finally outweighed our bad ones.

Because of Jesus.

Righteousness is not earned. It is given.

Paul makes it clear that we are “justified freely by his grace.”

That means we can't earn it or buy it.

We simply receive it.

But while salvation is free to us, it wasn't free.

Jesus paid for it.

Our sin wasn't ignored. Our guilt wasn't overlooked.

Jesus took our place and paid the price for our sin on the cross.

That's grace.

You bring Jesus your guilt.

He gives you His righteousness.

You bring Him your sin.

He gives you forgiveness.

You bring Him what you could never fix.

He gives you what you could never earn.

Today's Question:

Am I trying to earn something from God that Jesus has already purchased for me?

Today's Challenge:

Take a few minutes today and simply thank Jesus for grace. Name some of the things you've been forgiven for, and remember that
your standing with God rests on Jesus, not you.

Today's Prayer:

“Jesus, thank You for paying the price I could never pay and giving me the righteousness I could never earn. Help me live today amazed by Your grace.”
