Paul uses a word in these verses that we don't use very often: Justified.
It's a courtroom word.
Imagine standing before a judge knowing you're guilty. The evidence is there. There's no excuse. There's no defense. Then the verdict is announced: Not guilty.
That's incredible, right?
But the Gospel goes even further than that.
God doesn't simply pretend our sin never happened. It did. And our sin and guilt had to be dealt with.
And it was.
Jesus took our place. He took the punishment our sin deserved so that guilty people like us could be declared righteous.
So, we don't receive the “not guilty” verdict because we've lived a righteous life. We receive it because Jesus did.
That's why the Gospel isn't about becoming good enough for God.
You never could.
It's about trusting the One who was good enough in your place.

Today's Question:
Am I living like someone who has been justified, or am I still trying to prove that I'm good enough?
Today's Challenge:
Pay attention to your self-talk today. When an old failure makes you think you have to earn your way back to God, remind yourself: “Because of Jesus, my guilt has been dealt with.”
Today's Prayer:
“Jesus, thank You for taking my place. Thank You for paying for my sin and giving me what I could never earn. Help me live today grateful for Your grace.”
