Day 3Jesus Is Lord

Day 3

Jesus Is Lord

“Jesus is Lord.”

For us, those words can sound like a simple statement of belief. But for the first Christians in Rome, they meant much more.

Caesar claimed authority. Caesar demanded allegiance.

And when first century Roman Christians declared “Jesus is Lord,” they were declaring who had the ultimate authority over their lives. They were saying, “Jesus is the One I serve. Jesus is the One I obey. Jesus is the One who gets the final say.”

And by the way, that's still what it means.

If Jesus is Lord, He gets the final say over your relationships. Your finances. Your sexuality. Your priorities. Your future. Your plans. Everything.

Following Jesus isn't adding Him to a life that still belongs to us. It's surrendering our lives to Him.

So don't simply say Jesus is Lord.

Live like He is.

Today's Question:

Is there any area of my life where I say “Jesus is Lord” but still insist on having the final say?

Today's Challenge:

Identify one area you've been holding back from Jesus. Surrender it to Him today and take whatever step of obedience that surrender requires.

Today's Prayer:

“Jesus, You are Lord. You have the right to lead every part of my life. Show me where I'm still trying to stay in control and give me the courage to surrender it to You.”
